We all have our moments of lunacy, and mine was subscribing to Jerome Corsi’s teaparty.org emails. Multiple times each day, I’m alerted to the earth-shattering, sky-is-falling, alarming news that President Obama is a fraud president, he’s coming for our guns, he lied about his birth certificate, he committed treason, and so on. It’s all SO 2008.
I continue to subscribe because, although it’s not really necessary to “know the enemy” (since our enemies have already outed themselves as idiots and numbskulls hugging their guns and building underground bunkers), it’s on sites like teaparty.org where true radical right-wingers are born, bottle-fed, nurtured and set free to wreak havoc. Some of the recent articles have demonstrated that very thing, very ably.
On March 17, 2013, an article harshly criticized House Speaker John Boehner for the unpardonable sins of, first, saying that he trusts President Obama, and, second, for (gasp!) admitting that there’s no immediate debt crisis: ”Then Boehner dropped the bombshell. Raddatz, after quoting President Obama saying we don’t have ‘an immediate crisis in terms of debt,’ asked Boehner for his thoughts. And Boehner eagerly agreed: ‘We do not have an immediate debt crisis . . . Boehner’s language certainly undermines the public relations narrative set by conservatives . . . .” (Emphasis added – and thanks, Tea Party, for playing).
March 24 saw right-wing hysteria over the potential “third world experience” around Obamacare: ”ObamaCare Must Be Destroyed With A Vote Of Congress! Dump it now! Wipe it off the books! Erase all traces of ObamaCare. ObamaCare is a blemish on our sterling heritage. Blot it out now! DRIVE A STAKE THROUGH THE HEART OF OBAMACARE . . . .” After 33 failed attempts to repeal Obamacare, at a cost of $50 million to taxpayers (this from the faction of the party that considers itself frugal), the stake has largely been driven through the heart of the opposition. Read on.
On March 28, 2013, teaparty.org sent out a cry for help: Gun Stores Resorting to Bullet Rationing! Stop them! They’re trying to disarm our children, “as prices soar in the face of dwindling ammo supplies.” Of course, it couldn’t have anything to do with gun stores withholding ammunition to create a supply-and-demand scenario; and it couldn’t have anything to do with crazy people like teabaggers becoming so hysterical over the mythical “coming for our guns” drama that they’re buying ammunition for their underground bunkers. Nope, it’s the Obama Administration loading up on ammo for civil unrest (one more right-wing-driven myth), or the President and his Administration trying to undo the 2nd Amendment.
On March 19th . . . “He’s appointed people to office when Congress was not in recess to end-run the system and flipped-off America with the big bird. He has defied Congress by giving amnesty to 2 million illegal aliens who are sucking at the trough. He who thinks he is mightier than Thou puts himself above the law time and again.
Remember the convenient use of ‘executive privilege’ in excusing Eric Holder from having to turn over documents relating to the Fast and Furious gunwalking scandal? That itself should be grounds for impeachment. At every opportunity, Obama slaps America across the face, again and again and again. These are impeachable offenses according to the laws of the Constitution!
If that’s not enough to impeach then consider this: TREASON.”
I could spend another five blog posts debunking the lies and crazy bullshit these teabaggers spew, but the bottom line is that in the year 3000, the baggers’ bigoted, ignorant heirs will still be trying to figure out a way to retroactively impeach President Obama.
